چکیده
Porous polymer coatings are used to control drug release from pharmaceutical products. The coating covers a core and depending on the porous structure, different rates obtained. This work presents mass transport simulations performed ethyl cellulose films with porosities. were high spatial resolution 3D data obtained using focused ion beam scanning electron microscope. effective diffusion coefficient of water was determined chamber. Lattice Boltzmann simulate in data. simulated good agreement measured coefficient. From results it concluded that tortuosity constrictivity network increase decreasing amount added hydroxypropyl cellulose, resulting sharp decrease diffusion. shows is necessary, 2D insufficient, order predict through structure accuracy.

Human cardiac telocytes: 3D imaging by FIB-SEM tomography
Telocyte (TC) is a newly identified type of cell in the cardiac interstitium (www.telocytes.com). TCs are described by classical transmission electron microscopy as cells with very thin and long telopodes (Tps; cellular prolongations) having podoms (dilations) and podomers (very thin segments). TCs' three-dimensional (3D) morphology is still unknown. Cardiac TCs seem to be particularly involved...
متن کاملCorrelating Electron Transport and Molecular Structure in Organic Thin Films**
Understanding how electrons travel through organic matter is important in designing materials for organic microelectronics[1] and understanding biological electron-transport processes.[2, 3] Herein we describe a simple experimental procedure to measure rates of electron transport across organic thin films having a range of structures, compare the data for several types of films, and outline a t...
متن کاملFIB Sample Preparation of Polymer Thin Films on Hard Substrates Using the Shadow-FIB Method
Focused ion beam (FIB) instrumentation has proven to be extremely useful for preparing cross-sectional samples for transmission electron microscopy (TEM) investigations. The two most widely used methods involve milling a trench on either side of an electron-transparent window: the “H-bar” and the “lift-out” methods [1]. Although these two methods are very powerful in their versatility and abili...

متن کاملEnhanced FIB-SEM systems for large-volume 3D imaging
Focused Ion Beam Scanning Electron Microscopy (FIB-SEM) can automatically generate 3D images with superior z-axis resolution, yielding data that needs minimal image registration and related post-processing. Obstacles blocking wider adoption of FIB-SEM include slow imaging speed and lack of long-term system stability, which caps the maximum possible acquisition volume. Here, we present technique...
